I had no idea...!

Like Naut, I thought every Japanese woman of tradition had a closet of kimonos, and variations on them.   This is like a Western wedding gown... but those, I think, are rarely rented!  And rarely worn more than once.

Thanks for showing all the photos... Your daughter will be not only beautiful in her choice, but probably at least a little pleased and proud to be wearing it.  This is, after all, part of her passage to womanhood:  It can't be a bad thing that she realizes the 'jock' is also a woman.

What a beautiful post about a beautiful daughter.  Exciting to see our children grow up isn't it.  Now it is my grandchildren all growing up.  Thank you for sharing her with us.

This is really fascinating! The kimono is beautiful (and so is E, actually, even if she refuses to smile, LOL), but I had no idea they were so expensive! I also thought every lady had her own kimono...Goes to show you what I know...

Beautiful pictures! I'm going to ask my daughter-in-law to tell me more about this 'coming out' and kimono day. Really $2000? Wow!
