You have the right idea, FSI. It's all about breaking each task down to one step at a time, and prioritizing what gets done first. Howard sounds like a great employee, and it's good he can depend on you to calm him down. Your Dad's vacation has two things going for it; it gives him a rest, and you experience! Good post!

It's that sink or swim philosophy. It's much more fun to swim. LOL!

I'm glad for your sharing your life lesson.  I can see You're growth --- from reading for a while.  and your Dad I know appreciates all of this.  Howard?  I was stressed reading this...LOL...he deserves at least an hour off - with pay - and oh my - the things that can go wrong - in a business, with a business.  You've certainly got the right 'attitude' - Elyse

What a week! It can be overwhelming when things go awry in the absence of another! I do think it has helped you with your dad on vacation to take things in stride! They always seem to work themselves out and stress is something that needs to be avoided as much as possible, it never does any real good! sam

It is good that you are not easily stressed out.  I just read auslander's blog and she is very stressed out with teaching highschool.  The tone between the two posts is so different.

I think you're right to prioritise
and it does show that you can adapt to situations as they arise - perhaps better than Howard who is quickly out of his depth?

Well there you are F.S. When the worst happens you can probably deal with it. If your Dad

was ill you would have to and poor old Howard , well I suppose one cannot expect him you share too much stress, perhaps you could find a way to praise him a little. I was reading a piece in the paper written each day by a successful business man. He said always try and give a bit extra attention to a good worker it pays dividends
