I will watch for future posts! I hope it is truly a community center! It would make such a difference! I have not done enough research on this project to formulate an opinion! sammy

gap
There are so many things wrong with this project that it would fill a volume. One of the many things that have struck me is this: at a time when the need for 'sensitivity' is one of contemporary liberal's most fervently espoused beliefs, those same liberals are completely insensitive to the objections of those whose fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, relatives, dear friends and compatriots died in an assault inspired by the teachings of the most intolerant religio-political ideology of any significance today - even if not all of its adherents share all its tenets...
To dismiss these objectors as bigots and racists, as is done routinely, is to demean and insult them.
And all the fine reasons for this project advanced by the estimable and enterprising, blond and blue-eyed Mr. el-Gamal and his supporters, in my view fade in the face of the legitimate objections to it. Let him put his mosque somewhere else, he has been offered other locations...
And as an afterthought: would you accept, say, a German Cultural Center next to the gates of Auschwitz? I certainly wouldn't! I have nothing against German Cultural Centers, but not in that location...

This is an interesting project. I hadn't heard of it before. It sounds like a multi-cultural, multi-religious centre. If that is so - brilliant. All power to his elbow.

I read you darling...and it isn't my country I know;but for me it is a
tastless project right there, surely a few streets further away.I am praying for a Peace park of remembrance where all people can go and reflect and remember all who died and all who lost. A place of flowers and grass where children can run and play and laugh.
