Tzippy
I am a fan of people who do not just whimper and give way as a stroke of fate, but get up, stand and fight, victory and the vanquish aside. You are an epitome of that courage having gone throuh, as I love saying, the 'Sloughs of Despond', and feel that I was the chosen one of God to have gone through it all. The lessons learnt therein are invaluable. And that is what shows from your fine inspirational writes. Kudos, lady.

I appreciate your kind words and quick response.......
I mean this is the kindest of ways....you are a great teller of tales.  You paint marvelous pictures for our minds to see.  Whether expressing joy or sadness, we're able to see the primary colors through the subtle undertones......and on a smaller scale feel your emotions with you.  For that I thank you.  It's an experience given us by so few.

Very inspiring
and they should have had you simply take language classes or one-on-one instruction until you were fluent.  The grade system, especially with social advancement, is the bane of American education.  They could have spared you that.

Glad you asked
I agree that if you want or need something bad enough you will achieve that goal sooner or later..I think it was a great feat that you went from 1st grade to 6th in less than a year,  that was awesome.  Then to continue to achieve one goal after another until you no longer felt inferior/LB

I so agree that if a person wants something badly enough they will achieve it! It was good for you to work at it until you felt you were comfortable! It has paid dividends for you have great command of the language! sam

If you did not tell you were not English born, no one would be able to tell by your writting and that should be as great source of pride to you as it is one of inspiration to me.  You have had a hard time in the past Tzippy... I hope that your future is filled with light.  xoxoxo

Your hardwork to master English has paid off...I am stunned that you were put with first graders like that. The research is showing that holding kids back does not work for one year let alone the five you had to go back.

That is something!! I am glad you could overcome to write so well.  Your experiences became a reverse of your earlier childhood and you overcame anyway.  Kudos!!! It was like the writing!!

What a fine group of writers assembled in this blog...
I think most writers have struggled with the exact same issues: feeling (being) isolated and helpless, outside the mainstream, misunderstood and discounted. It's what makes us look so carefully at the insiders, the "superior" beings -- it's how we know what makes them tick (and tic) and why our words and descriptions can be so accurate, so clear. Thank you for this blog especially, and the others -- you help your readers understand a bit more of the world we share.
