Comments on Nun Excommunicated for Allowing Abortion That Saved Life of Mother Of 4

Being Catholic today makes me often question. Has this Bishop excommunicated any priests for sins far more serious? The Church has double standards about sexual abuse vs abortion. If the nun had confessed and asked for absolution would her job and position in her order have remained? I read more on the story and could not find any comments from her directly. It seems she was an Administrator at St Joseph's and made the decision on what she believed the Church would want, for the woman with heart problems to live. She seems to have disappeared and is no longer at the hospital. Another method the Church has of dealing with controversy - hide it.

Since I was in the Catholic religion for a good portion of my life, it seemed that the Church would not override it stances! That was one of the issues that led me to leave! Also, my dear friend, a Catholic, and I would joke that we would be tossed out on our ear if they knew we had had tubal ligation! To bring more children into the world was not realistic for us, but we were defying Catholic law! Oh the sterilizing of it at times! sammy

God's first law is the law of love and compassion to ALL.  No matter what religion we are.  That nun should be honoured for upholding His law...For whoever saves one life saves the world entire...
