Add me to the list of people who didn't know of souljacker's blog - I have a limited number of blogs I read, and little time to add more. But I did go and read his posts, starting at the beginning. I am very impressed, have added him to my list of people to read, and sincerely hope he's okay...

Myrrhage, lol, I know you well enough, I knew what you meant!
and it is good to see you again, too!
The thing is, all the suffering and darkness should not negate the bright and wonderful, nor make it ashamed to be seen. I think this happens too often, and gives more power to the unlight.

Darnit, that didn't come out right. I don't mean turn away from suffering. I mean that we must feed and nourish what brings light, love, and harmony into the world. It starts within. Okay, I'll shut up now and get back to painting.

Ciel, I'm with Kabu, I was unfamiliar with this blog. It would seem to me that the very best thing we can do for our troops, and for families all over the world, is to turn our faces away from darkness. Perhaps this is what we MUST do.
By the way, it's good reading you again.

Re: I didn't know this blog.......the whole thing is going to end in a hopeless
Kabu, I understand that feeling, but have to generate as much hope and positivity as I can regarding it. It is such a black hole of fear and despair, pain and futility... I have to think of small steps forward towards peace and stability, to the efforts being made to help farmers grow better crops than poppies, on demonstration farms that are also one of the things our soldiers are doing over there. I think of the kids who interact with the soldiers and walk away feeling good because they have possession now of a ballpoint pen. I think of people, of kids, of lives helped--even puppies adopted, and people who also happen to be soldiers discovering at some moments a side of the land that is simply beautiful, an aspect of the culture that is untainted and fascinating and enjoyable, like the music or the local food.
Do we feed the dark beast or the one of light?

I didn't know this blog.......the whole thing is going to end in a hopeless
mess...as is Iraq. ....and more lives lost. Even the Balkins will break out again ...one day. I sometimes ask myself why I ever complain about my life....born where I was at the time that I was.
