Good idea - get out and mingle. Just make sure you don't buy too much junk at these events...

Socialness.
Congrats on expanding your sociality! I always counted working a job as being social, too, though.

Well done! Not an easy first step to take, but now you've broken the mould it will get better and easier.

You impress me with this in light of the social pressures blogged about. Older but not wiser I identify with you. For myself the problem’s not to take the ball but how to play the game. In other words it’s where to throw it in which game. Do they want to play softball? Football? Soccer? What color are you going to provide?  Mass communications of today and all these movies about dating make people think fast even in conversations at events and functions for all purposes such as you say socializing or dating. I think that a chance has to be given two way. We’re looking for the wrong communication and signals. It takes a moment for your bodily system to send a signal to the brain to speak. I mean this just for regular social purposes. To be sure I like this social activity especially for your age and anyone really. BC-A, Bill*s Cyberspace Hotlink

I'd say your pretty brave just being in a huge crowd of women. LOL! Every step forward makes a difference.

Next time.....
act totally dumb about what all those things are for.....and ask the ladies lots of questions.   It works fine in a supermarket...(at least, that's what I've been told)

I am proud of you for taking that first step, too! I like how you have analyzed the situation and a plan to be more pro active! KUDOS to YOU!!! sam

When you talked about being invited to this in a previous blog, I imagined that it would be a slap-up meal, not a trade fair. Good that you believe in taking steps to making new friends. You'll make lots!

I dont know if that was me the only woman at a fishing demo I would of walked out, unless of course a good looking man started a conversation, but I am happy to see you stayed, its hard sometimes taking those first steps.  In most cases I am easy to talk to but it has to be about something I know or am interested in.  Keep it up, my son needs some lessons in taking steps

One thing leads to another.  You may become the next Emeril Lagasse with your own TV show if you don't watch out.
He says, "If somebody has a chance to put my food in their mouth, that tells the story."
