Maybe he samples the butter
and, as a result, his voice is really soft and nobody could hear him if he spoke so why introduce machines that can only put off the reality...

That's the point! Our culture has become so cluttered with tools of instant gratification that someone who isn't bogged down with electronic communication detritus is viewed as strange . . . or something like that . . .
