Every time I consider leaving this area to live in some other wonderful
corner of this country, I am pulled back by the forest, the mountains, the waters on every side...

What an awesome walk you take us on to see the inspiring woods today. You can almost feel the little peoples eyes peeking from thier lodgings!

Oooooh, nice.  They all look like Lord of the Rings except the third one down.  That one makes me think that Rambo with his big knife is going to come crashing through the dense forest and attack those looking for him.  LOL  You know I love your pics.

Gorgeous pictures! You're tempting me to dig out my Tolkien 'Ring Cycle' (as I call it, reminiscent of Wagner's 'Ring Cycle'), lol. One of the problems with Tolkien is that much of it has to be read slowly, like poetry or a Shakespeare play, and hence takes up a lot of time...

I Love Trees
And the hobbit peaking through the leaves was especially cool.

Thanks, Lotus Flower and Troosha!
I have spent a good part of my life engaged with Tolkien's Middle-earth, as much of my poetry posted here shows.  And perhaps a fair amount of the photography, as well!

Isn't it a wonderful and engaging book.  I haven't read it in years but it left a permanent imprint.  Your forrest shots suit it well.
