Took me a while to get back here lady. I've been waiting for a chance to go find that special sugar, but now that I know it isn't a necessary ingredient and I can substitute, I think I'll go ahead and see what I can do.

muscovado sugar
TAPS, this is the very dark brown unrefined sugar, but I don't think it matters too much what you use. And I have made sourdough without using any sugar at all. Good luck, can't wait to hear how you got on!

I have never made sourdough bread, but I do like sourdough biscuits
and pancakes and waffles... Our shortcut for these is to use yogurt instead of milk or water with the baking mix.

I was not aware of this method. I like it. I think it is most worthwhile because it is your creation. I was intrigued how environment affects the flavor! sam

Uistlady, I'm so glad for this post. I just love sourdough bread and I have never tried to make it. Now I need to find out what is muscovado sugar and then try it for myself. Thanks.
