Sam444,
Take it easy. I think he is one of these college basketball fanatics? It's almost over. He'll soon resurface.

Corbin, there's hope, in spite of human greed. Your blog on ethanol is
right on, another example of human mess and greed. I kinda think things like Hurricane Katrina and the big tsunami destruction are Mother Nature telling us to clean up our room.
On the geography channel on Thursday a documentary showed what would happen if all the humans suddenly disappeared from the earth. Within 300 years every city had crumbled and become overgrown, the asphalt and concrete disappeared, the nuclear energy plants had overheated, exploded and the radioactive dust was overcome by green growing things. Pet dogs went feral and interbred with wolves, the herds of buffalo went to pre-"civilization" levels. The earth cooled a few degrees with no greenhouse gases and combustion engine exhaust. Longer winters greened the north. The whales came back. The air became breathable. It was so nice, so clean.

Kingmi,
Gasoline is the by product of refining fosil fuels! Corn has to go through a number of stages before it becomes Ethanol. They all know it and they all want to hide behind the hype!

Kingmi,
I hate to be the one to defend Corbin on this one. But he is on the money! The chemistry and science does not support the notion that ethanol is the answer! Crude has the advantage over anything on this Planet for its uses! It is non-renewable a major negative!

CD, I am too ignorant to defend ethonol, but I buy it.
And it is slightly misrepresenting it to not compare the amount of fossile fuel and water used to refine oil and create regular gas. My guess is the entire industry is a haox. Had we invested in mass transit decades ago we wouldn't be in this pickle.
I look for Obama to become the type of credible leader who can explain what is hurting us and how we can change.
And what is the holdup on solar power? The entire Southwest is a Solar Farm waiting to happen.

Excellent post, Corbin!
I have actually been aware of these facts for some time, but one can't repeat this message often enough. People have simply bought into the ethanol nonsense because it sounds so nice, virtuous, and 'green'...
Like so much else, the whole thing has become politicized. To be for ethanol is to be 'progressive' and 'liberal'. When I mentioned some of the problems with it to a liberal acquaintance of mine, he dismissed what I was telling him because "you're a conservative"...

Corbin Dallas,
On the money with this post! Looks like ole "W" needed to throw a bone at the big donor corporate farmers so he "supports" the hoax?
