FreeManWalking...A very nice testament to three essential items.
Nice tribute. Cool way to think of things really. I always have a pen and a lighter...my car has all three including matches. My fingernails serve me as a knife in some ways, keys in others, but there are times when it would have been nice to have had a knife. It's a habit you've got to get into.

Despite often finding myself in need of one. . ,
I don't carry a pocket knife in my pocket, and I don't carry an ink pen with me at all times, too. You're right on the money as classifying these three items as essentials, though. I can't count how many times I've found myself having to bum a pocket knife or an ink pen.

Maybe I should start carrying a knife and matches - you've sold me! I just gave in and bought a gigantic purse to accommodate all the shit I already carry with me....My next post was to be titled "so easy a caveman could do it." Well, maybe it still will be...

Thanks Strat. Merry Christmas. (Remember back when cards used to say
Seasons's Greetings and there was no controversy whatsoever?)

Makes sense to me.
I have a little case lockback I carry, I'm always nearby a lighter, and my favorite pen is one I made in this old man's wood shop about two months ago -- a cool story for another day.
Merry Christmas, Bill!
