Did not know that, Spitfire, and you just raised her estimation in my book,
also.  There must have been something to that story about Dubya milking that horse.

saul,
I don't know too much about her (really don't care) but I just appreciate the fact that she remains pro-choice even as Dumbass Dubya is so against it. That's just a plus in my book!

Hey, Spitfire. I'm a little dubious in my feelings about Laura.
Somehow, I beleive this dog and pony comedy routine she and Dubya have going is all too contrived, a jab at making Dubya look a little more human, less antagonistic on a personal level, hoping for bleedoff into his perceived professional personna.  Not a bad idea, considering his approval numbers are extremely low.

Saul, I agree with you and mary x!!
As long as no one else was hurt! (I actually like Laura. She stands behind  her beliefs regardless of her hubby president.)

We are so agreed, mary_x.

If only he could the same for Bush and his whole band of traveling minstrels.

It's that talent, mary_x, I admire most about him. He claims to have

single-handedly destroyed Rush Limbaugh's television empire (remember that huge syndication he used to have with his appallingly narrow-minded audience of suited "dittoheads"?) with his book, Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot And Other Observations.  It was shortly after the release of this book and its painstakingly detailed use of facts that destroyed Limbaugh's credibility, not to mention Limbaugh's fact-checkers' credibilities, by quoting Limbaugh verbatim and proving his assertions, statements, and facts as so much unadulterated bullshit that Limbaugh's television empire dissolved.

And thinking America mourns its loss.  Like we mourn McCarthy and polio.

Saul,
Braying jackass is right, in Limbaugh's case.  You've got a higher threshold for b.s. than I have.  I'm afraid I'd just throw the radio off the balcony.  In Franken's case, I saw him on a show debate Bill O'Reilly, or not debate so much as just "deflate" BO.  Ol Bill was so hot under the collar, he just had to sit there and take it, and when he tried to interrupt, Franken told him, "Be quiet, Bill, this is not your show."  When I think of O'Reilly having f*ing gonads to call the son of a 9-11 victim  a traitor and a coward, I nearly come unglued.  Franken's brilliant at putting things into perspective.

I check out the web site occasionally, mary_x, but I have yet to catch
the show.  However, I love Al Franken.  I've read two of his books.  I think he's funny as hell.  And I think he's pretty much on the money.  To put things into perspective, I also listen to Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh.  I listen to Savage because he makes conservative sense.  I listen to Limbaugh to hear what braying jackasses sound like these days (and he's so ridiculous he makes me laugh, too).

SaulR,
Do you ever listen to Al Franken?  I occasionally catch parts of his show in the morning.

Hey, U.G.G., I'll give you a list of how I get my news in a normal day.

On the way to work, I listen to the news on the radio.  At work, I listen to all the gossip and rumormongering and in all that crap I get an occasion "real" news story to follow up on when I get home.  During my breaks, I read true crime or (auto)biographies, or, if there's a paper lying around, that.  I listen to the radio on the way home.  At home, I turn on either the tv or the computer.  If it's the tv, I check out the local news (or Dr. Phil, depending on when I get home), which is on for a good 1 and 1/2 hours.  If the news there is boring, I turn to CNN or CNN Headline News.  Sometimes I watch Crossfire, for all the political stuff.  Sometimes I watch Inside Edition.  When I get to the computer, I immediately check out AOL News, which has gleanings from all kinds of papers.  I also read the Washington Post and the New York Times.  During commercials or restroom trips, I read poetry, one of the fictional books I'm currently reading, or a biography or my current issue of Discover.   I watch the evening news, usually on NBC.  Sometimes I watch Jeopardy! and that will spark an idea for one of my opinion rants.  I catch an occasional edition of Entertainment Tonight.  And sometimes I will think of something I heard and do a search for the topic or some stories in that area.  If it really interests me, or I get a lot of feedback on the post, I do follow-ups.  I watch the nightly news.  Sometimes I watch Nightline.  Occasionally, I watch Bill O'Reilly and David Letterman.

And that is more usual day of gleaning the tube and the net and any other media for information for stories and posts.  In between all that, I find some time to blog and answer comments to my blogs and peruse some of my favorite bloggers (some of their blogs will give you ideas also) and leave comments with their stuff.  Then I turn the computer off, sit up and read and watch movies and talk shows and such until about 2 in the morning.  I get up at 6:15 a.m. and start the entire day all over again.

Does that help?  Give you any ideas?

Obviously, no southern hospitality!

Where do you find
all this news? I guess I've actually made it a point to avoid the news - too much marketable crap meant to rasie panic and fear. But, from your Blogs I get the parts that are intersting.

Saul,
Maybe they didn't want to leave the meth lab behind?  If only we knew the rest of the story.

Yeah, mary_x, what kind of people stand around (sit around?) when asked
to leave and watch a simpleton commit arson?

Well, if he is drinking isopropyl alcohol that would explain a lot of things, including his choice of friends who are so lame they wouldn't leave unless they were set fire to.  .

Like they say, mary_x, foolishness and alcohol don't mix. Athough, I'm not
so sure they were talking about isopropyl...
