Actually Damon

A severe earthquake hit first. . . . the volcano came several years later.  As much as you like to believe this, you're not always right.  AD 62-63 -- earthquake.  AD 79 or thereabouts -- volcano.

Errr...
...the destruction of Pompeii was due to a volcano - Mount Vasuvius, I believe - and definitely not an earthquake.

Also, while I know of no connection between climate change and earthquakes, the reality is that on this wonderful, complex planet of ours, we simply Don't Know how everything works, and we have no clear picture of the links and inter-dependencies that exist.

So while there is no known or provable link, I think it would be folly to dismiss it as a conspiracy theory. After all, some people are still trying to do this with climate change itself, even though it's demonstrably happening.

SlyCy: You are absolutely right - the man should be done for treason,

guilty of intentionally killing his own people.

JanesOpinion:  Sorry for butting in.

Well Cly,
You're entitled to your opinion, thanks for weighing in.  I don't happen to agree.

Great! Everybody knows that dubya isn't responsible for the tsumai
disaster but that doesn't mean he is not responsible for much of the misery that will plague our country for years to come and that he is not a criminal who should be headed for impeachment and indeed prison for high treason.

Ha ha, Chris --
I'm sure, somehow, you must be correct.  A new washer is being sent your way via Pony Express . . . after we taxpayers pay off our national debt.  You live in England, right?  OK, no problem! Thanks for visiting.

Jane

I also believe America is responsible for my washing machine malfunctioning.  Please send financial aid.

Jane, There's a great book called code to zero, by Ken Follet. It makes
conspiracy theories about earthquakes come to life (not about bombings in Afghanistan or oil-drilling, or worst of all global warming.)

AMAZING!
Some people just HAVE to find someone or something to blame for absolutely everything. They can not possibly accept the notion that "it is that it is". This is not to say that things just happen, I believe everything happens for a reason.
If they can't find a human person, a government entity or group to blame each and every occurence on, then automatically they shake thier fist at God--"It's your fault!"
Oh brother!

I love it when someone spreads absurd rumors that no one believes

Wow, I shouldn't be surprised by accusations like that, but I was surprised by this one.  Global climate change if unabated will cause natural disasters, but I don't think this earthquake in Asia was the direct result of global climate change, much less a direct result of American policies.  Good grief!  There is no appeasing some people!

It's amazing how theories come out of the woodwork
when things like this happen. I know for a fact that our military has capabilities to make "natural disasters" happen and it has had those capabilities for a long time. But I am sure many will speculate foul play regardless. Especially pointing to the U.S. Great post!

Jane,
Happy New Year to you also. Freedom of speech is the most wonderful government invention that there is. Of course, sometimes freedom of speech is not advocated around an agitated wife!!

You're right, sarooster!
It does take all kinds, and I AM thankful for freedom of speech!!!!!!!!!!!  Happy New Year to you!

Yes, I am sure the world will try to figure out a way to blame
the tsumani on America, George Bush, conservative, The Republicans, Enron, and Ken Lay. Both of you are level-headed rational people who I enjoy reading. It does take all kinds so Damon has the right to voice his opinions also. He comes up with some good stuff at times. It is incumbent on all of us to aid in any way the people who need help in all of this. America will come to their aid now and for years to come.

Justso
I completely understand where you're coming from, particularly with regards to Damon.  I decided to keep my response to him light and use it as an opportunity to actually say something positive to him since my thoughts regarding his blogs and ideology are generally very negative. I understand your comments about your post, and agree with you.  Why is it that people are not up in arms over all the (many) militant Muslims, but spew such hateful vindictive comments against Christians.  Beats me, except I know what the Bible has to say about this so I should not be surprised. Hang in there, girlfriend!

Jane
This is an excellent post. I saw the comments and the blog of Damon. What he said I said was a lie. I was trying to make the point that Christians often give as much from an individual group as some of those countries gave. Both blogs are up if you want to know whether I said such. Operation Blessing averaged $30,000,000 a year in disaster relief for the past 26 years. It does not matter what caused it, people died, are hurting and some so afraid it is incredible. My post was intentionally wrong and the one following it explained all that. Why, simple. No matter what anyone says about Christians it is supposed to be okay. It is not okay. I don't understand why everybody would not opposes the Blog: Shoot a Christian for Jesus! Civilized people should oppose such a blog implicating any religion.
