A Story of the Desert Fathers

There is the story of Abbot Anastasius, one of the Desert Fathers*, who had written a book on very fine parchment which was worth 18 pence, and had in it both Old and New Testaments in full. Once a certain brother in the Abbey came to visit him, and seeing the book, made off with it.
