Another installment of Thursdays With Death. I blinked a few times and squeezed my eyes shut and then reopened them, trying to make sure I was awake this time. I stretched a bit, swung my legs off the bed to get up, and heard a “SPLAT” as my feet hit the floor. “Splat” is not a noise one would expect to hear upon placing one’s feet on a hardwood floor. “Thud” is more appropriate (and is actually preferred by three out of four people who have hardwood floors) but this was a “splat”.
