Little things I like to call learning strategies. My Plan for Semester Two.

It's time to unveil my master plan for the next semester. Here is my long-term goal, and my objective. Just give me a second and I'll make one up, here. OK. I decided last August that I would introduce a new type of writing in the January to June term. I call it journal writing. But really it is a... Sign in to see full entry.

Student Mentoring of those who fall below a low point in Academics

In our school we have started a program of student mentoring. We call it the mentor-mentee relationship. I missed it my first year and have attemted to take part this year. However, my mentee is reluctant. He speaks to me in the hall, but refuses to stop in and pick up the paperwork for his parents... Sign in to see full entry.

" You lock the door, throw away the key, there's someone in my head but it's not me." Pink Floyd Now imagine if you will, you are in charge of a large program of mostly latino students. They all want to learn, but some of them are so far behind that they think they will never catch up. Some of them... Sign in to see full entry.

I Found my Families on the Front Page, and it wasn't Good News

OK, down and dirty. Level one of culture shock. We think we are moving to Disneyland and when we find that not only is this not Disneyland, it is actually harder than our previous existence, then we become depressed. Level two is a speedy recovery and adjustment. A return to a new normal. Level... Sign in to see full entry.

Your Home Town Learning Center is perfect for this student

Oh boy! A category devoted solely to education. Now there's a Christmas gift... OK, down and dirty, here's the cold reality. Teachers in ESL (English as a Second Language) for thirty years have been teaching in the traditional (deductive) methodology. We have used standard second language aquisition...
