Tucson, Day 3

The sun was hot for three hours before noon, and then the clouds rolled in. I spent three separate 10 minute sessions sitting in the sun. Then I read for a couple hours, and spent the rest of the day sitting with my mother and listening to CNN. My brother surfaced from his marathon 30-hour work... Sign in to see full entry.

thanks to Sam444 for Staying in Touch

We spent our first day in the desert reading, learning my mother's medicine regime. My older daughter is a certified nurse's aid, so she's volunteered to put grandma through her daily bath, change her sheets, dress her and bring her downstairs. After breakfast she does an exercise program, and my... Sign in to see full entry.

Arrived in Tucson

72 degrees (feels like 72) as we touched down in Phoenix. I wrote a blog on the laptop while soitting @ the Phoenix airport but haven't had the wireless connected so I'll make this the Day #1 of our Christmas in the desert. My mother is healthy and getting stronger every day. We sat up in the... Sign in to see full entry.

Ten Days in Tucson for Christmas

Both girls are in finals week. On Saturday we fly back to Tucson for ten glorious, sun-filled, fun-filled days. With the Santa Rita Mountains as a backdrop, I will luxuriate on the patio, studying under the trellaced gazebo, stretched out past the open fire pit, praying near the bar-b-cue. I will... Holidays @ kingmi Residence

Staying alive and thriving requires a little self-discipline. Although I confess to very little. My beautiful turkey, cranberry relish and pecan pie was a big hit with the girls. We pigged out all week, as they have been out of school since last Friday. My chicken and rice soup was a hit, as well as... Sign in to see full entry.

Audition for a College Gig

I was invited to be guest lecturer at a local college. The class is Special Eduction, and I am to contribute what I can from English as a Second Language. I've been writing my lecture all weekend. I entitled it "Five Things I Can't Talk About in Class" just for fun. When I told my friend, the... Sign in to see full entry.

No Rage, Projected Anxiety, Repressed Anger Over Old Friends

I saw a picture of my old friends, Jan (pronounced yawn) and Carmen. Both were at different times, people I spent a lot of time with in high school. Carmen and I were intellectual soulmates in my sophomore and junior years of high school. Jan and I were drinking buddies. He and I formed a singing... Sign in to see full entry.

Omnia Gallia Divide en Tres Partes Est

That, (Gaul is Divided in Three Parts) the first line of "Ceasar's Gallic Wars" is in every high school Latin book there is. Gaul, of course, is France. Today my friend - a substitute teacher - who used to be a Latin teacher, was quoting "The Iliad" to me in Latin. My pawltry speech couldn't hold a... Sign in to see full entry.

Pink Floyd' last Big Hit - Same as that Race Car Driver

This morning my alarm merely buzzed. I was expecting "Wish You Were Here" as I always hear. But no. Two buzzes, and nothing. Since I was up till almost ten last night I became suspicious about the time. 5;06 AM. Tuesday. The worst morning of the week. But, there are compensations. I'm up early... MySpace and Facebook, New and Mysterious

We have one fast rule at school! Anyone who logs on to Myspace at school is immediately sent to a table in the library for time out. At first it's a warning, but later, if it keeps up, the administrators will keep them out of the computer labs. Evryone has a chance to learn their lesson. But why is... Sign in to see full entry.
