Sure Sign that a particular religion is a sham . . . .

When the overwhelming stated goals are materialistic. Some Examples: we need to build a bigger, better curch; you need to give us (or God) more money; let us show you how you can leave your estate to us; join our _______ (fill in the blank: 700, Love the Lord, Bible Study, etc.) club for only...;...
