Conflict of interests when ruling politician finances people's profit
How does a people's profit get placed when its primary funding is by a politician in power? Can it really be a people's profit then? After all, if that politician wants to do good, he has the power with which to do good and his finances would go to a Public kitty like the Prime Minister's fund or...

When people's profits function on the image of a publicly charismatic
personality as a spokesperson, what happens when that personality changes track or suffers a burn out? The non-profit collapses. Hence, it is good to adhere to the good old adages: 1) don't put all your eggs in one basket, 2) perpetuate the saying: do not judge a book by its cover, look at the pages...

There was something called the bhoodan movement in India initiated by
Vinoba Bhave. It was about those having excess land giving it to the landless. That was a great non-profit movement idea. But what really happened is that people were spurred enough to give away but just enough to give away wastelands ONLY. Some achievement, but one wonders if it's about satisfying...

Can NGOs and political parties be the same> Can pol parties float NGOs?
What happens when a political party says it has targetted to float a certain number of NGOs? Isn't this something contrary to non-profits? Isn't there supposed to be a distinct line of difference between non-profits and political parties. I am not suggesting that NGOs should not be political. We all...

Sometimes I get butterflies in my stomach looking at the way non-profits
function. In the name of collectives, they ensure the whole things slides on one or two persons perpetually. In the name of hierarchy, they throw their weight around. In the name of being non-profits, they make a claim to non-transparency. Why? There's nothing different about labour rights of people...

"Don't give a person fish, teach him how to fish" is still the credo of
many non-profits, but I guess over time it needs to evolve with the current challenges. Maybe we need to talk about making sure that we unitedly fight to make sure that the fish resources are not depleted and destroyed by irresponsible mechanised fishing and by other invasive interventions in the...

Cream cheese, golf, wrinkle!
If people at a non-profit are constantly seen eating cream cheese, playing golf and looking wrinkled with all the pampering, it's not something odd these days, cos there is a distinct corporatisation and co-option of non-profits happening

Can a Government-aided body or agency be a people's profit?
Surely not 'cos people's profit which is meant to be communitarian is the very anti-thesis of the State

Should people's profits complement each other's work?
That's what I thought they should. But what one finds is that they are steppin on each other's toes and there are whole areas that are very challenging and that lie completely unattended. Maybe there's no money in them, maybe it's not the kind of work that will fetch popularity.

Competitiveness should conceptually be uncharacteristic of a non-profit
But it appears that the non-profit is sometimes becoming just another corporate enterprise, or they haven't really thought through why they are a non-profit. Or else how does one explain the competitiveness rather than the conviction driving its functioning? One would normally have said the more the...
