Is people's profit about the salaried persons in the organisation not
gettiing a decent wage. How then can it be a people's profit if its doings do not correspond with its words? What say?

sometimes one can selectively participate in a people's profit???
Sometimes it is difficult to agree 100% on the perspective with which to view a people's profit. In such situations, one can volunteer selectively for them...on particular campaigns for instance. Or one can publicly support and publicly denounce those aspects of that people's profit which one...

When people's profits function on the image of a publicly charismatic perso
When people's profits function on the image of a publicly charismatic personality as a spokesperson, what happens when that personality changes track or suffers a burn out? The non-profit collapses. Hence, it is good to adhere to the good old adages: 1) don't put all your eggs in one basket, 2)...

Some people's profits work on issues that are the flavour of the day
And the type that get popular support because the issues raised are such that the diret implications can be seen by people. Still others work on challenging issues where it means literally digging and paving a path. The latter I think, tough as it is, would be more fulfilling

There was something called the bhoodan movement in India initiated by
Vinoba Bhave. It was about those having excess land giving it to the landless. That was a great non-profit movement idea. But what really happened is that people were spurred enough to give away but just enough to give away wastelands ONLY. Some achievement, but one wonders if it's about satisfying...

Can NGOs and political parties be the same> Can pol parties float NGOs?
What happens when a political party says it has targetted to float a certain number of NGOs? Isn't this something contrary to non-profits? Isn't there supposed to be a distinct line of difference between non-profits and political parties. I am not suggesting that NGOs should not be political. We all...

Sometimes I get butterflies in my stomach looking at the way non-profits
function. In the name of collectives, they ensure the whole things slides on one or two persons perpetually. In the name of hierarchy, they throw their weight around. In the name of being non-profits, they make a claim to non-transparency. Why? There's nothing different about labour rights of people...

"Don't give a person fish, teach him how to fish" is still the credo of
many non-profits, but I guess over time it needs to evolve with the current challenges. Maybe we need to talk about making sure that we unitedly fight to make sure that the fish resources are not depleted and destroyed by irresponsible mechanised fishing and by other invasive interventions in the...
