Age (rondeau redouble)

AGE My time quickly came, when age took its toll Its more than the grey and wrinkles to blame But my didn't it come so fast and so bold Time is just something that can not be tamed How old is old? the question is the same Only in ones mind can the answer be told All I know is for this I was not trained My time quickly came, when age took its toll I ask the Lord for grace when my hands fold I just ask Him for health, I seek no fame I know that all of this has been foretold Its more than the grey... Rondeau Redouble

I have been away for awhile, I have been writing lots of new poetry, until recently most of the poems I wrote were in the form of song lyrics, 3 stanzas of 8 lines each with every other line rhyming, in my absence I have discovered "form" poetry which I have fell in love with and it has rekindled my love for writing, I will be sharing these new poems in the coming days, I hope you like them. something from long ago

SOLDIERS Wounded soldiers, remembering long battles, battles lost, never won. Unable to help each other, Bleeding blood that won't mix. Wearing armor, full of holes, Yet believing, indestructible. No call for help, no forward march, possum by day, lightning rod by night. No mail from home, no medals on their chest, heroes in no one's eyes. Different plans, different time, results the same. THE WIND DIES Limp sails, struggling against the current, like a bee, crashing the window pane. Searching, Trembling, crying out in the forest. A sound not heard, a need unfulfilled. Looking for a clearing, some shade, a cool breeze. Ragged from lonesome freedom, to be a willing prisoner. A home with breathing walls, a welcome mat on a peaceful shore. He is everything to me
