Prologue of Isabelle Fonteyne (con't)

Though her chopines were elegant, and fit the profession, they caused severe pain to the balls of her feet when she moved too fast. Sharp pains caused her gait to be off balance, as she pushed harder to keep up with the mark. Her feet promised her more suffering, later.
