A response to George Carlin's "man in the sky versus paint drying" joke.

George Carlin was a funny man but he is confusing metaphor with a statement of fact. Heaven is only "in the sky" in the metaphorical sense of being spiritually upward, from the human tendency to seek the "higher" things, to "reach for the stars", etc. God is like a man only in the metaphorical sense...
