The Suspenders Effect
Sometimes you know you want to make a change, you know it needs to be done--you can feel the connection stretching thin... and then suddenly, you are back in it again, just as stuck, just as committed, just as engaged. Sometimes you do make the change: you move out, move on, file away the old receipts under T for Tuition... and then suddenly, you are back in it again...! It's The Suspender Effect. Like the guy in cartoons who tears through a door, getting his suspenders hooked on the door...
