OL' ROCKIN' CHAIR GOT ME - haiku

Coffee's hot, I'll set it on the arm and - Oh wow! - well, you know the rest. Sign in to see full entry.

WELCOME TO CAMP BLOGIT

Drumming as the sun comes up, chanting as it goes back down! There's volleyball for all you sports in sunbloc, string hats, shades and shorts. Cell receptions's rather poor. Sneakers, sandals? De rigeur! Lights out by maybe one or two. Parties? Sure. Invite me too! Campfires only where pemitted,... Sign in to see full entry.

LET IT GO

Don't wait until it's torn from you, make it look like your idea, what's left will be enough for you, it never was yours anyway. But this is mine and always has been! I can't get it back again! And I'm not sure I'm through with it! The fact is, it's not mine. It's me. Sign in to see full entry.

HOT BRONX AFTERNOON BACK THEN

Hot Bronx afternoon shimmers, melts the tar as busstop men all coatless wait. Skiprope girls will sit, play jacks, while stickball boys trade comic books. Frontstoop toddlers learn it all - above all learn to sit and watch. Clothespin moms hang out the diapers from the washboard to the clothesline,... Sign in to see full entry.

I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT

Hiking near a summer swamp, I had a path all rough, uneven, laced with twisty, worn and shiny trodden roots of simple black that challenged every step I took until one wriggled, disappeared into the slender trailside grass. Sign in to see full entry.

A KID'S NIGHTMARE: THE REVOLVING DOOR AT MACY'S

I learned doors, of course I did, but this is different by a lot! Brass and glass brush brass and glass, whirl too fast to let me past! A people-slicer at the worst - adults propel it without pause; at best - if stopped -a goldfish bowl where, pressed to glass, I yell "I'm caught!", but make no... Sign in to see full entry.

STARTING OUT

Let me knit us both a chicken while we speak of things to be, of what we can and can't afford on just my meager salary. Sign in to see full entry.

ELISE, MY NEIGHBOR'S SEVEN-YEAR OLD

No dance class ever taught my little silver-slippered one those lissome laughing moves that make the music something I can see. Sign in to see full entry.
