Inspiration - I suppose. I'm surprised I wrote I wrote this with no special situation in mind.  It just seemed right and true, somehow.

Reminded me of my two girls Bob - always squabbling for things each one screaming its theirs..loved the poem.

that is a very human poem - I think I have felt that way about so many things and people over the years.  i think letting go is not something most folk are very good at

I know the feeling  Bob I am afraid I resented siblings going on holiday. I tore down the sheets of silence as I was plunged into the sameness. Everyone seemed afraid to enter that strange world, poor Ginny a pity she does not write, she is so lucky to have you

And you wouldn't believe how much your note means to Ginny and me!  We're in the same situation exactly, and while I wrote the poem I must have had it in the back of my mind, unconsciously guiding my choice of each word.  It's true and uncanny.
