My name is Sarah Torribio and I write songs, poetry and articles.  My poetry has been printed in such publications as Newn magazine and the Pronghorn Press anthology "Dry Ground: Writing the Desert Southwest" as well as litrusmagazine.org.  I have an album being mixed and you can hear 4 of my songs for FREE on my music website, http://www.myspace.com/sarahtorribio, where I also keep a blog. I don't understand the Internet, even though I invented it.
My greatest poetic influences include Suzanne Lummis, a longtime family friend and founder of the Los Angeles Poetry Festival; Sylvia Plath ("I don't want to end up like Sylvia Plath/I'd much rather take a bubble bath"); Anais Nin; Ani Difranco; Steven Patrick Morrissey and lots and lots of rock music lyrics. For the last year, I've had the problem of rhymes creeping obsessively into my blank verse. My writing is often indefinable, and I've enjoyed the pleasure of having publishers read my poems and say, "This is a lovely song" or "What a lovely fable," and of receiving more rejection slips than you.

*P.S. I have started a new batch of 5 blogs & am uncool enough to know how to link those with these. So. . .stbond and storribio are. . .ta da. . .the same writer! My extra $20 a month investment makes me feel both reckless and liberated. Is Icarus flying too close to the sun? Are my wax wings going to melt? Or should I just stop being dramatic, making obscure references to Greek mythology and go to sleep?
