I am a left-handed polish/austrian/swedish male born in america and raised in chicago who currently resides in saitama, japan and is employed as an editor for shipping and trade news (an english-language daily dedicated to the cargo transport industry). i am pushing 40 (as of spring 2004), play goalkeeper for a local football (soccer) team and support barcelona, glasgow celtic, manchester united, sunderland, borussia dortmund, fiorentina, and omiya ardija (a japanese division two team). i'm also addicted to japanese manga, gamera, golden age monster movies and near-history novels by alan furst. i support neither the democrats nor the republicans -- i believe both miss the plot. i prefer eric schlosser to michael moore, ted rall to george carlin, the now-defunct spy magazine to mad, and monty python to saturday night live. music? just about anything. books? non-fiction. food? good corned beef or korean bar-b-que. religion? i think a spiritual life based on a reasonable value system is essential for serenity, but cannot advocate any one organized religion since none has all the answers. what it comes down to in the end is keeping my side of the street clean and leaving you in peace unless you are attempting to screw with my serenity.
