The Invitation

I started writing professionally when I was married to my my sons dad who was and still is an artist.  His name:  Danny Hahlbohm, and is best known for his rendition of the ever famous "Footprints in the Sand" painting.

We traveled as a family around the country for many years.  The years of traveling together came to an end when we felt it would be better for our three sons to be enrolled in school and get rooted in a stay at home environment.  The boys first attended Smithtown Christian school on Long Island while they stayed with my parents.  I took on the role as part time mother and part time wife as I would travel back and forth between them.  After a year we made way to our home in Nashville.  Our two older boys attended Davidson Academy, while our youngest son went to regular elementary school.  The seperation on our family had finally taken its toll.  One day in late April of 1990 Danny who was at home between shows would go for a pack of cigarettes never to return.  And so our family ended.

It would be many years of struggle and many years of keeping a roof overhead without any support from my sons dad.  I may not have done everything right but I didn't do everything wrong.  I did the best that was allowed of me at the time and under the given circumstances.  I could not find their dad.  Tennessee could not find their dad.  The publishing co. and the touring organizations would give no info on him.  I had no court order and no child support.  It was not til years later that I received divorce papers in the mail.  Signed and filed in the State of Florida the divorce makes no mention of any children and makes claim of not knowing how to contact me.  Divorce was granted by default because it was run in a local Florida paper, knowing that I never lived in Florida.  Danny had made residence in Florida.  To this day I wonder how that man can sleep at night.
