Former Otis Redding Star Vocalist!
My name is Loretta Williams Handy Jackson, I am a former singer with the late great Otis Redding Band, from 1964 to 1967, I had a hit record out recorded at Atlantic Records studio in New York City with the 28 piece show band of Otis Redding, a record called (Missing You & Baby Cakes) by Loretta Williams and the Otis Redding Band. I made history being the first lady of soul to record on Otis' own label (Jotis) made the top 10 charts and the great (Hit Parade Magazine of the 60's). I traveled throughout the country with Otis did many one nite stands with him and appeared on many shows with many great stars of the 60's. I performed at the Appollo Theater many times, the Howard Theater in Washington DC. many times, the Texas Colluseum, many times, on the shows with Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, Sam & Dave, the Temptations, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Martha and the Vandellas, The 4 tops and so many more, I once shared the rooms in New York with Dee Dee Warwick sister to Dion Warwick met her also, the list goes on and on.
I came from a swinging city, seaport town, in Mobile, Alabama, me and a couple of other great musicians who all went on the road together with big stars, George Weaver who played with Otis also, and Jaboe who played with James Brown, and Fred Wesley Jr. who played with James Brown his band leader for years, so I was very big out there.
Now I am in the process of trying to get my royalties from my records I recorded with Otis to no avail yet, I am also a new author who has written the book on my life on the road with the late great Otis Redding, called (Woman Who Lived Twice) by Loretta Williams Handy, the book is awsome to read no one who has read it could put it down, its a real sexy, juicy story that has no holds barred, we left nothing out, it tells the good, bad, and the ugly of life on the road with Otis, what goes on behind the scenes, it tells what Otis was really like and how he lived, it tells of all I had to go thru to stay on that road, the lies, the drugs, the alcohol, the sex, the rape, the abuse, the fights, the dissappointments, the disasters and so much more, you have to read it, the book is on Amazon.com, Blockbusters, online, Trafford Publishers, and my website (Loretta W Jackson.com)or call me to order it. It tells of many things I saw with Aretha Franklin and her problems, Tina and her problems, Otis and his goods and bads, If you liked the Ray Charles movie you'll love my book, of which I'm trying to get someone to read it to be made into a movie, if you have any contacts who would be interested in making a movie of this book please contact me at my email address (handyjackson@comcast.net).
I am the mother of 4 wonderful sons, all talented two who plays and produces my gospel music, one of my sons is kin to the late great W. C. Handy, he is an awsome producer who needs to be discovered, awsome musician, I was married to the late Eddie L. Handy who passed away in 2007, but I'm now married to another great man in the gospel Deacon Jerome Jackson Jr. who works closely with me in my ministry and with my book. I'm pastor now of a large church in Chickasaw, Ala. I have 3 gospel albums out and I'm yet singing, I'm like Tina Turner, I'm 68 years old but I look 48, I've taken good care of my body, and I'm in good shape. I have so many stories to tell, I was featured on the Bobby Jones Gospel Hour, I am a regular host and singer on TBN Gospel programs, so my life is still full in the spot light.
I just need more exposure for my book and I need to get paid for my work with Otis Redding. Please help me to get this venture done, Love, Loretta!!!!!!
