About WhorledPeas

Primarily I am a mom - two daughters 15 and 19, who have provided my greatest joys and heartaches, so probably pretty typical. Married to a great guy for almost 26 years who also likes to read, travel, hike and ski, etc. Unlike me, he has a great sense of humor, and balances my "save the world" passion with a sense of fun.

Like Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality, I "really do want world peace" (visualize whorled peas). Rather than just being sad,  it is starting to piss me off that the starving children in Africa who I wanted to save when I was 16, are not only still starving but now facing genocide/war as well. It does not seem fair. What to do? I am starting to accept that maybe I should leave it up to God, and live my life not according to what I think I should do, but Him. It's only taken me 48 years to figure this out!  If only He would float down a "to do" list every morning.

When I am thinking less emotionally I need to realize how fortunate I am - to be living now, in one of the greatest countries the world has ever seen. When you expand your view to include the entire world and throughout history, we Americans are truly blessed. Let's try not to screw it up!
