I am an ex Marine, a Vietnam vet, an ex liberal, and ex cowboy, and a recovering addict with 8 years clean who started writing down my thoughts in Okinawa, Japan after a dear friend passed. Years later I was told that I wrote wonderful poetry and I took her word for it. Since that time I have had several "thoughts" published and won cash awards for several other "thoughts". I grew up in the streets of Salt Lake City, Utah and spent my teen years driving tractor, putting up hay, and chasing cows on a ranch in Gunnison, Utah. I recently retired from full time work and I have enjoyed writing here on Blogit. I love to garden, cook, can, play music, and study US History and the founders of this country in their words from the Library of Congress. I used to think I was a fair looking man, but recently my 116 year old father keeps popping into my morning mirror. I like rock and roll, blues, country, blue grass and classical music. I have three cats which are part of the family and the most wonderful wife in all the world.
