Salutations!

Welcome to my About Me Page! My name is Linsey, how do you do? I'm from a small town on the Connecticut coast line, right across from Long Island. When I graduated from high school, I had been accepted to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia. I was BEYOND exuberant, knowing that I was going to a top-notch art school. Just one small hitch. I had NO clue what I wanted to major in! I just knew that it would be something "artsy". So I went with high expectations, thinking that I wanted to do something in the entertainment industry. I'd always been good at drawing, and I loved movies. At this point, 'love' isn't a strong enough word. I'm enraptured, infatuated, besotted, and entranced with films and television.

So when it came time to choose a major, I decided to go with graphic design. I THOUGHT, at the time, that graphic design would mean I would be creating the special effects and graphics in a film. Let's just say I was a tad naive at that point, and, ok, a little stupid. After learning that graphic design had nothing to do with the production of films, I moved on to the next major, Computer Art! Well, lets just say that I don't have a knack for that area and tend to be accident prone with computers. So last but surely not least, I ended up with a degree in Film and Television studies. As it turned out, I had a knack for writing. I never realized it before, but English was always my most enjoyed class and I had an innate talent for being descriptive. During those years in college, I diligently practiced my hand at screen writing. After all those trying times, take-out, and massive amounts of caffeine, I FINALLY (or so my academic advisor said) found my niche! I weeded out all the things that I thought I wanted to do, and concluded that what I had a nose for would be my passion.

Ironic that it should turn out that way. I mean, just look at my brother! All through high school he took apart and rebuilt computers, the smart ass. However, when he went to college he ended up graduating with a double major in molecular genetics and micro biology. Afterwards, he worked at a hospital in Boston doing research on breast cancer and TB. After realizing that it wasn't as rewarding as he thought it was, and putting him in the hole financially wise, he had an early mid-life crisis you could say. He went back to school to become certified in IT work. Now, he works in a savings bank in the IT department with more certifications than can be listed on his business card! Serving as inspiration to me, my older brother showed  that it is possible to be happy and successful in your career.

I realize that what I want to do now and what I enjoy now, may not be where I eventually end up. Heck, another example would be my Dad! He majored in geology in college but now he's VP of a major New England Building supply company. No matter where I end up though, I will always have my writing, my constant companion.
