Hot Water

He turned in languid motions, shifting his place of repose along the length of the mattress, seeking the source of faint breath beside him. It was the third day of the one-thousandth-six-hundredth-sixty-second week of his life. Two weeks before his birthday, in one set of hours it would be only one and six-sevenths till.

It was a day of supposed passion, for this Tuesday was St. Valentines, and as he crunched out calculations in his head the creature laying parallel examined him. What an elegant one it was, soft blue eyes crossed his physique, melting into silver strands of blonde hair, framing the supple features of her face. As sapphire stone gazed up from torso, bridging the gap to his own eyes, he was pulled back from his numerical notation into the reality of what occurred moments before.
