Believe it or not, Taps I used to repair teletypes. The National Guard keeps things forever. I went to crypto repair school in Fort Gordon, GA. Thanks for the memory.

Hello TAPS,
It must have been quite a noisy but very interesting. The clickety-clack going the whole day. Haven’t seen one ever, but now I did ⛄️.

Very interesting. A noisy machine, too! Technology has come a long way!

I'd like to mess around with that letter thing. That sounds like fun.

Wow that was something else. I jus remembered something we more or less played with
it was a box of small letters which had to be inserted into slots on a hand held section .
This was then dabbed into an ink pad and lo and behold one could print a letter.
We also had an object as far as I can remember it was called a crystal and one could
touch this with a thin wire and receive faint voices and music. 🌺

This is one noisy machine. I have never seen one before. What a fun environment you worked in. I worked on a Navy base a few years before I met and married John. The environment was quieter—no noisy machines—just many hungry service members coming in for a meal. Thank you for sharing.

Very interesting, Taps! I worked in the business office at the phone company when I first moved to Illinois in 1954 - we used a teletype to send work orders to the installers who operated from another location. I can remember the clickety-clack. Do you remember that sound effect was played at the start of one regular radio news program?
