Re:C C T,
The different dialects at different parts of a country vary immensely and often understanding gets quite tough. Here, in India, change and accepts happen almost every 20miles or so. Geoff Boycott was from Scotland if I correctly remember and he pronounced stumps ‘stʌmp‘. I find it funny. Also the American Africans’ pronunciation is foreign to me in a sentence.

Yes you are as good as it gets. Many years ago it would have been quite difficult to understand all the different types of speech that had formed in different parts of England, Scotland and of of course Ireland and London Some of the Counties has an accent. When I was A boy my employment took me to several different villages and it was at times hard for me to make out what some of the old folks were saying.. 'Do you mean ... I asked an old lady once when she asked for some 'pays. and inons. She laughed. Of course television has no doubt contributed to a way speech has changed

Good morning. This was an interesting post. I read today that India ranks as the third-largest producer of books in English, making a significant impact on English literature. Since the post-1980 Salman Rushdie era, hundreds of Indian authors have published novels in English, with many receiving international acclaim and prestigious literary awards.
