We had one ll the time I was on the farm. wash the clothes,  put them through the ringer to cool rinse water and then back through the ringer to the basket. Carry the basket to the outside line that was wired in a big area around the yard. Peg the clothes, bring them if and when they dried and start ironing!

Ouch! Wringer washers were somewhat dangerous to small hands and arms. That had to be a scary experience for you. My Mommom had one. I remember it sitting in her kitchen. She would run the washed clothes through the wringer and then hang them outside on the line.

We had one it worked by turning a handle . Also a massive one with wooden rollers but  we used that to squash rhubarb to make wine not much sugar was on ration🌺
