l love the story behind it. Jim Webb wrote it for Glen Campbell. The song came to him when he was driving through the panhandle of Oklahoma. He spotted a lone utility worker silhouetted against the sky on a telephone pole. Thus the ode to the blue collar was written. Such a great song!
