Re:

I think that is actually very fair. Do they not offer just a general ID card at the DMV anymore? I mean its been forever but didn't they once upon a time offer that? As for name change and marriage, I feel that so much. I actually kept my old license when I changed my name to give myself time to update everything that was linked to the old name.

Almost all the time a government issued ID such as a driver's license suffices. I think the problem with the showing an ID  for voting is what ID will be accepted. In theory it makes great sense to back your claim as to who you are, then produce a valid identification for important things. Conversely it's important to have a universal ID that doesn't discriminate based on name change due to marriage. I had to produce a birth certificate and marriage license to get my star card to fly. I had no problem with it. If any government issued ID would allow for a designation on say an identification card for those who don't drive then the problem is solved. Until the type of universal ID designation is determined for voting then it's going to have people in a dither! To have to show several pieces of ID to prove who you are to vote is ludicrous. Just my humble thoughts here.

I don't think it would worry me. People just don't like change!
