You can hardly buy one thing for that sort of money in the Grocery store these days

It sounds like the father did not know what an x chromosome was...Nowadays so many grocery store items cost at least $12.

Re: My mother-in-law was one of ten kids.

I'm not sure how they managed that many kids, but they did.

Re: Oops!

No my mom’s mother, my mom’s grandmother. My mom was the last of 10!

Wow! My mom’s mother had 13 children but only three lived, according to the census. I had a friend when I was in HS who was the eldest girl of 13 and was at her house at lunch time. She was making lunch for almost all of the kids. She did it with such ease. Took a loaf of bread, spread it out, slapped on mayo, then took a package of lunch meat and put that on every other piece of bread, made the sandwiches and the drinks for them were out somewhere and that was it! Amazing!

Good Evening

Wow! That is a big family.  My great-grandma and grandpa had 13 children and adopted one boy who didn't have a family.  I know they had at least 10 girls.  They lived on a big farm.
