Before passing, my mother-in-law resided in a building resembling the one you live in, according to your descriptions. It is perfect for older citizens who no longer want to deal with the responsibilities that come with owning a home. She had a blast living with people with similar lifestyles. There was a trash bin with a chute in her hallway that sent trash down to the bottom floor. I'm sure the maintenance crew dealt with those pesky bugs. After all, it is their nature to root through the trash. That being said, I find the ending of your story hilarious. 😝

Everybody does....including me. I do not think that God had cockroaches in the Garden of Eden. They must have been a curse when sin became a thing. But I do wonder if they have feelings.
