I consider that to be a form of child neglect. The ranger should have given them a serious lecture about what could have happened to that baby because of their stupidity.

I am not surprised drowning is number one. With all the lakes, I can see where the odds would favor that.

That's so sad on Lake Mead. I have great memories from vacations there. Renting a party barge, a.k.a pontoon boat, is the best way to go.

I've visited a number of national parks, including The Great Smoky Mountains, where I saw a tourist take a baby about a year old out of his car seat and sit the infant on the neck of a black bear which was walking alongside the road, while the mother aimed a camera. A ranger came yelling out of his patrol car at them and cracked his bull whip to scare the bear over the side of the road. I'm guessing most of the serious accidents at parks is due to the visitor's stupid risks.
