Just make sure to cook that lettuce to 180F to make it safe to eat!

Re: Sherri

Yes it does make one more selective, cooking ones own might be the best way to go.

I stayed at an aunt's when I was a boy we ate mostly home grown and rabbits.

With horror I noticed as the lid was lifted of a pan of runner beans. There was the largest meat fly standing bolt upright on top. 'Eek! I don't want any of those.' I said.

'Well you won't get any thing else.' Was the stern reply.

Re: Good Evening

I expect if it is baked or stewed it would be safe, we have a certain resistance build in or we would soon keel; over.🌷

Re: Sam

A good job we do not know everything Sam, or we might be over cautious.🌺

Re: FS

The trouble is one does not boil lettuce or strawberries although strawberries are not grown on the ground much these days.

Re: Pat

I suppose when we baked our own bread and grew our own veg. Forgetting the toilet bucket being dug in for fertilizer.  I  stayed at an Aunt when young we seemed to live on mushrooms and beans.🌺

That stomach ailment from lettuce is scaring a lot of people. I am hoping it goes away quickly.

No matter what our phobia, the media's alarmist tone of voice can keep it running full blast and make every bite feel like a threat, but not eating healthy foods isn't the answer. I wish I knew what was.

Good Evening

At this point, I'm afraid to eat anything. Let's hope our faith in the quality of our food is restored. I hope you have a good night.

Omg! It is always one thing or another. Tainted produce is the cause of so many intestinal issues and deaths. I remember when green onions served at Chili's restaurants made people deathly ill from Salmonella. There is always one recall or another in the news. Organic blueberries, yams, and kimchi recently caused an E. Coli outbreak. Unfortunately, consumers aren't aware of the problem until after they have consumed the produce. We will have to be more diligent and read the FDA warnings.
