I agree that memory is a gift to cherish. Even though some memories are unwanted it still a great sign that all is well.

I would be very glad to relinquish the memories of the outhouses. Even our little church in the Wildwood had an outhouse, and also a pot-bellied wood stove in the center of the place of worship. They finally built a new little church a half-mile away that had male and female toilets and a gas furnace and room for a piano.

Good Afternoon
Taps, when we moved into the house we raised our kids in, there was an ice box in the basement. It was so heavy that we couldn't move it. I think that's why the other family left it there. People used to get deliveries of large chunks of ice during the hot summer. We were finally able to remove the ice box. I think it would have kept ice solid for a long time. I think our memory banks get filled up over the course of our lives, and by the time we are elders there's a ton of background stuff--like old phone numbers and addresses, maps of places we no longer nor will ever again visit... Some kinds of meditation can help clear out some of the obsolete stuff, maybe making room for what we need now.
