Re: Re: Goldiec,
Ciel, thank you so much for the kind words. The world can be a very hard place. I hope there are people to give encouragement to anyone who needs it.

Re: sam444,
What really bugs me in a story is when something implausible is contrived just to allow some other piece of the story to slide in.

Re: Goldiec,
The world needs more empathy, to be sure! Caring in a world of mockery, poor understanding, meanness... it's a hard world to live in, but seems to me, you make it kinder, and teach everyone in your life by example. 💖

Re: Sherri_G,
The more we learn about the spectrum of personality, the more we are discovering that it is more complex that just 'normal' or 'divergent.' It's not just what we're born with, but also our life experiences and outside things that affect it. What sociologists say--Nature vs Nurture is really not 'or' but 'and.'

Re: Sea Gypsy,
Thanks!
There's a pie chart that shows a dozen or so of those attributes and you can chart how much or little you experience of each one. Everyone is different. At some point of intensity or extremity, one is neuro-divergent in that area. Convention and social programming makes some seem 'normal' but these are not the artists, innovators... I'd like to see a list of the people through history that we can now identify as 'neuro-divergent.'

It is great when there is more awareness that results in a better understanding. In general I am surprised how a movie or show affects me when the bad guys have the upper hand. I've even gone so far as to question why some deaths were necessary in plot as well.

Good morning
Ciel, it took me years to figure out I was an empath. Long story short, it's not an easy life, but I've lived it. The stories I could tell you.

This is definitely interesting. I have never heard of this type of personality trait. Ever since COVID, I have become ultra-sensitive to light and sound. I'm sure that many of us carry some of the traits you listed. I, for one, get overly emotional when it comes to unjust situations. Thanks for sharing.

I commend you for getting through a lifetime of being neuro-divergent before much was known about it. I think we all can say we have some of the attributes of such. What counts is that we strive to become the best version of ourselves possible, as we are. 🌹

Ciel.....
Everyone is different. No two alike. One of my favorite poets expressed it well. I love this:
| A Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow | Next | |
| | | What the Heart of the Young Man Said to the Psalmist. Tell me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world's broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant! Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act,— act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o'erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time;
Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o'er life's solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing, With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait.
