You are right to remember those who gave their all and it shows how much you care. We also care. 🌹

My youngest son volunteered to go to Afghanistan, it was the longest year of my life. Fortunately he was not killed or injured. I've known him deeply since he was a baby but still cannot fathom the amount of bravery he possesses. Uncanny for me. I've lost family and friends in war, it's the harshest sorrow I've ever known.

Re: Sherri_G

Wow your family is totally full of veterans. Again thank you for your service. Yes I have seen Hamburger Hill. It is a great representative movie. I really hated the scene where the soldier who received a letter from his Girlfriend saying she was leaving him. It is one of the cruelest things one can do to a service member on the front lines.

It makes sense to watch those types of movies on such an important day in history. We are looking forward to watching the new documentary, WWII with Tom Hanks. John and I both have family members who have served during several wars. My baby brother served during the war with Afghanistan. My great great grandfather served in Gettysburg during the Civil War. John's dad served during the Korean War, mine during the Vietnam War. My Poppop served in WWII. We have watched Saving Private Ryan. Full Metal Jacket is also a good one. The war movie that got to us in a profound way was Hamburger Hill. Here is a link for you to check it out: Hamburger Hill (1987) - IMDb

I have not seen both movies. I need to check them out. Saving Private Ryan I am familiar with but not Blitz.
