Re: CCT,
Ooh, I'd have loved 3 portions of porridge! The meals were very small!
No bears, and not a moose in the hoose... No thumps of large cats landing on the cabin roof, either, which would have been another possibility: mountain lion country, too!

Re: Pat_B,
It was bitter cold at the Grand Canyon when I was there, going out early in the morning to catch the light on the rocks... great photo ops! But I think people don't actually realize how high up it is! Back in those days I could still get up off a regular air mattress!

I don't think I could bear it. The bare convenience and the thought of my tummy growling.
But there you are like Goldilocks safe and sound.🌺

Re: Goldiec,
I remember the summer heat and humidity of Cleveland! Aways loved a good thunder storm! But the humidity is always a no! for me!

Re: Sherri G,
Yes, those two delights were worth making the trip. I've never seen the ruby-throats before, had no idea they are so tiny! And I do love the brilliant night sky!

I used to love camping - Fang and I and four kids, a pop-up tent, a 2-burner propane stove and a big kettle for cooking over the campfire. Colorado Springs had a campground with a bath house - very nice. There in the first week of June one year, overnight snow 2" deep on our tent, but we folded it up and headed for the Grand Canyon. As we shook the snow off to set up that night, it melted as it touched the desert sand. It was amazing.

Good morning
Ciel, welcome home after a busy weekend. I'm glad you got rain. It's really going to be hot in the city today.

Hummingbirds and a clear sky with stars overhead...sign me up! It sounds like the ambiance outweighed the cons. Thankfully, you had no encounters with a 🐻
