Archie my helpmate thinks it may have been hand reared. I have seen foxes before but they are gone in a flash. Hunting was cruel really because the holes where the fox rested were filled in to prolong the hunt.🌺

What a great idea on the mealworms. I'm going to share it with my daughter. She gives mealworns to her ducks everyday. The baby birds need protein, too!

It appears that you have been adopted by the fox. I have heard that animals sometimes choose humans versus us choosing them. He knows that you are a caring soul who will bring him no harm.

It's surprising to read of a fox feeling safe enough to let you approach. Maybe it's because so many around here are dog owners, or that it's not near the edge of woodlands, but I've never seen a fox in this area. Skunks, rabbits, squirrels, and a groundhog or two seem to like my yard, especially after the neighbor's walnut tree drops its fruit in the fall.
