Great picture. When I was in 2nd grade in Alabama, we celebrated May Day. We all dressed in white. And we practiced for Mayday, going around the Maypole. We did not have a parade where I lived.

I remember we had them on the village green. I was not chosen as a dancer much to my relief 🌺

I must have seen one once, or been in one (not likely) because I remember thinking about the pattern of the ribbons. It seemed like there was an order to it and if one was out of step the ribbons wouldn't look right on the pole. Not sure of that. Perhaps it was in a movie...

I have never seen a real live MayPole dance....only on the screen. I always thought it would be fun to participate in one when I was young....."Oh woeful when"......So long gone.
